How it works:
1. Getting the tracker up and running
Set up the Mobile Audience Tracker, attach the audio sensor to the TV set, turn on: that’s it!
Members of the test panel can install the entire system themselves, thereby doing away with expensive on-site panel participant service calls. Serviced via mobile network and a central online service, the system detects the usage of any audiovisual media such as TV, radio and even cinema to the exact second – within the home just as precisely as away from home.
2. Acquiring the data
Up to six household members and a maximum of nine guests log on and off using the included compact remote control or via touch display. The integrated digital audio sensor identifies the current program. A signal processor converts the audio data into special, ultra-compact audio properties, yet because the device does not record or transmit any reconstructable audio data, all panel members’ privacy remains fully protected.
3. GSM data transfer to FAST back-end
The Mobile Audience Tracker communicates with the back-end via mobile network. Data transmission intervals can be custom-configured; for example once per night or even live when real-time panel analysis/feedback is needed.
4. Processing measured data at FAST back-end
Using the audio properties from the test panel data collected, the data is matched to the reference broadcasters at the FAST back-end and stored in a database. A special algorithm guarantees absolute reliable broadcaster identification.
5. Convenient online data access
Retrieving, downloading and pre-evaluating the measurement results is all done through one central web portal, as is individually managing device and test person allocations. Configurable reports provide information on the current status of each individual device out in the field. All results can be called up through the web portal on a daily basis or on demand. Historical values can always be retrieved at any later time.
